My husband's graphic's card is starting to have issues. A very good friend of his sent him a powercolor radeon hd 5850 he was no longer using but still in good condition. The motherboard in the current computer is a GA-P55-USB3. We installed the graphics card but it didn't work, it wasen't recognizing it and we were getting a yellow light. Is there any tips or something we missed that anyone can help with? Thank you.

Solution

the power connectors come from the power supply not the motherboard

you need a new power supply with the proper pcie cables for the gpu

you need a decent 500w or better psu with dual 6-pin( or 6+2-pin ) cables

There was only one connector that we even saw, where would we find the power supply rate?
**edit: okay, we don’t have enough power, so now I need to figure out if we can put the right type of cord on it.
