Installing graphics driver leads to black screen and forces windows restart. Bad card?

I just did an upgrade on a friends pc for him and gave him my old gtx 770 4gb windforce. I did the driver installation yesterday and the computer ran flawlessly. However this morning we have come to multiple issues. Windows would not boot up without safe mode, after driver fiddling I found that the graphics driver was the cause. I uninstalled it and booted windows normally. Upon reinstalling the driver the screen went black and never came back on until I restarted the pc, effectively stopping the driver install. I reseated the card, moved it down to a different pcie slot and the problem persisted. His old card is a radeon r7 240, put this card in and the pc works fine. I know all the signs here point to card failure, but it's just hard to believe that the card stopped working overnight, It has been kept in pristine condition, and was working fine playing demanding games yesterday. Could this be a windows 10 issue? At this point we are pulling at straws for any possible solution other than the card being dead. His specs have new and used parts (some were recycled) but here they are:
Fresh Windows 10 64bit installation
Toshiba 500 GB HDD (old part)
WD Blue 1TB HDD (old part)
Dynex 4GB ram x2(old part)
MSI 970A Carbon Pro (new)
AMD FX-8350 CPU (new)

This was very budgeted (why I gave him my old card) and he can't really afford a new card, any possible solution other than a new card would be amazing.

This looks like it's thermal or power related. Check temps with HWmonitor idle and while gaming if possible. CPU and GPU temps please.
Also, make and model of PSU. If you are not sure, open case.

The Power Supply is a new Thermaltake 700W, The GPU temps are nominal at about 20C as the issue lies with the driver not being able to be installed. I tested the Power Supply on a different system. I have run through all the BIOS settings and updated the BIOS as well. At this point, I can only think of it as either a Windows issue with the driver, or the card is bad. But I really hope this card isn't bad.


On a side note, the CPU is running 30C at idle, which is about average for the wraith cooler, and the board posts and runs very good.

20C is VERY low. Unless you live in the southern hemisphere, it shouldn't be that low. But even in that case 20C is like the card is not working at all.

The best thing to do is to try the 770 in your PC and see if the problem still exists.
