Brand new install of both cooler and mono. plugged cooler cable into cpu fan header and two h100i fans into fan splitter cable coming from pump.
Bios on boot says cpu fan error and the fans don't spin. I can feel the pump and it is working. if i plug the fan cable into a chassis fan header they spin up.
what if anything am i doing wrong? is there a reason they won't spin up on cpu fan header..
I assume the CPU fan header is supplying enough power to run the pump and the two fans...

I am installing this same cooler with my Asus z97 deluxe USB 31.1 board, as part of another problem I found a corsair link that said to

"While the H100i GTX is designed to be as easy to use as possible, you may need to disable fan control on the CPU_FAN header in your motherboard’s BIOS. Consult your motherboard’s user manual for information on how."

I had this same issue, except with mine the fans are at least spinning, yet the BIOS reports failure. It turns out than when the fan control is set to "DC" for the CPU in the ASUS UEFI BIOS, they aren't detected, and the cooler / pump obviously isn't forwarding the RPM info back to the motherboard. If set to "PWM" mode in the UEFI BIOS, the RPMs are reported, but the fans always then spin at full speed in the Corsair Link software and OS, regardless of settings in that app, even if QFAN is disabled for the CPU fan header. Suspect this is a firmware / driver issue with the H100i GTX. More research needed though.

Corsair m8. Not Cooler Master. 😉
