Installing HP laserjet 4000 windows xp forum

Hello,
I'm trying to install an HP laserjet 4000 on my PC, using XP windows. I connected the computer to the printer using an LPT cable (my computer has only one LPT port).
Although I have installed all three options (PS, PCL6 and PCL) none will print.
Would you mind advising me please?

Have you tried another cable? Try the printer on another PC? Printer on? Error messages that come up?
