Hi everyone i need some help to install the hyper 212 evo into my HP omen machine. i attempted a installation already i know what to do but i run into a little problem, is that the backplate of the original hp cooler is glued on to the mobo and the threads hole doesn't match the one come with hyper 212 evo either. I try to just use my hand to get it off the board buy applying a pulling force to all corners, i also try to use a heat gun to loosen the glue, both method didn't work. when i was using the heat gun i didn't want to overheat something so i was being little easy on the heat applied. Any suggestions that is fairly safe to try? i only got one more idea is to drill the hole bigger and rethread it so it will fit the hyper 212 evo, but i think that is too risky to try. (Btw i was thinking just getting a new mobo since the hp mobo is cheap and rubbish but i currently don't have the money to spend on a nice mobo so i need keep this pc running with the hp mobo.) thank you in advance.

I was actually just elbows deep in an Omen machine today dealing with this same issue. You can do it (at least with the cooler I had) but it'll be a bit janky OK, a lot janky.

My solution was as follows:
-Pry out the lock rings on the stock cooler screws so you can remove them from the cooler.
-Mount the base of your cooler with those screws instead of the stock mounting.
-The screws probably won't be the right length. Cut some spacers out of some kind of stiff plastic tubing (I didn't have any handy so I used a sawed-up pen. See, I told you it was janky.)
-Reinstall the cooler base with the spacers and mount the cooler as usual.
That's about your only option from what I can tell. Yes, it is stupid and janky. But there's really no other way unfortunately (at least as far as I know- other more experienced people may have other ideas.) Even a new motherboard may not save you- the IO shield is built into the case, and there's a fairly good chance the ports won't line up and you won't even be able to install it.
