I'm looking to purchase this laptop and would rather boot windows from an ssd than the hdd.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/455707/ROG_GL552VW-DH71_156_Gaming_Laptop_Computer_-_ROG_Metallic

this has an m.2 slot,

could I install a m.2 ssd and move windows 10 over to that drive and boot from it and use the 7200rpm hdd for handling video editing with Adobe creative cloud after effects and premiere?

that should have decent video editing speed and if not, I can swap out the hdd for an ssd.

Would doing that void any manufacturer's warranty?

What are your thoughts?

thanks, TJ

another question:

my goal is to gain the quickest rendering/previewing with After Effects /Premiere with this existing system....

Looking to add this fast m.2 to this system: http://www.microcenter.com/product/455999/950_Pro_256GB_PCIe_Gen_30_M2_Internal_Solid_State_Drive

which scenario would make the greatest speed gains:

1. installing that m.2 and moving windows to it and installing all of the adobe software to it and then using the hdd to save the projects/data to

or

2. installing the m.2 and using it as the drive to save projects/data that I create from the adobe products.......and leaving windows on the hdd and installing the adobe products to it

thanks

I've never used those programs, but I think saving the projects to the SSD would help speed things up.

I'm not sure if moving Windows to the SSD would help out with Adobe, but in general it's always a good idea to install your OS on your SSD, unless you really need the space for more projects/data.
