Question Installing new cpu

Hello! I would like to replace the cpu on my hp p6637c with an amd phenom ii x4 945 95w.
The motherboard is a m2n68-la. The socket type is am2+ but the cpu that’s installed right now is am3. Just asking if I need to do something like a Bios update or if it’s even compatible

Look up your motherboard and look for the latest BIOS update. Do the BIOS update first with the old CPU installed, then you can go ahead and replace it.

AM3 chips work on AM2+ motherboards, meaning that Phenom II should be good to go.

the bios have to support the cpu also. check with hp support site
