Installing new HDD- Do I need to buy Windows again?

I apologize if this is in the wrong category. I wasn't sure whether to put it under "Windows 8" or "Storage".

I'm going to be getting an OEM HDD because my current HDD is near death, so does that mean I need to buy Windows again? I have my original Windows 8 install disc and the product key, so is there any way to use that to get Windows onto a new HDD without having to pay for it again? I'd prefer not to clone my current HDD over, as I'm afraid it might brick itself partway through.

And if there's absolutely no way for me to get Windows onto the new HDD for free (aside from pirating and cloning) what's the best approach to getting Windows 8.1? Online I'm seeing varying prices from several different websites, and I'm not sure where I'd even start.

Thanks in advance.

If you haven't changed motherboards, then you shouldn't have a problem with your existing Windows key. A reinstall onto a new hard drive shouldn't cause any activation issues.
