So my prior GPU recently burned out but I still need to use the computer and since I don't have onboard motherboard Graphics I was going to try installing an out dated GPU I have laying around just so I can get on the Internet. The thing is is that my prior GPU the one that burned out was overclocked and I worry that if I put in the older GPU I have laying around that it could hurt the system. Will it?

Solution
the overclocking was to your previous burned out GPU has nothing to do with the older video card your trying to use. But driver will be an issue now.

1. download DDU from : http://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=717
2. saves file on desktop or on thumb drive from another computer
3. launch DDU, it will make you reboot in Safe mode (and that is good) run clean method suggested and it will reboot once done to normal Windows
4. WAIT for windows to discover card.
with older video cards getting LATEST drivers isn't always the good thing to do. what video card are you wanting to put in ?
