I have an old super micro mainboard(x8sax/c7x58) with an Intel Xeon W3565. I have an old ssd(SK hynix HFS512GD9MND-5510A BA (PC300)) from a laptop that died and I want to use it as boot drive for the computer.
I found this M2 to PCIE converter but I am not sure if it will work (It says bootable with UEFI 2.3.1). https://www.brack.ch/delock-host-bus-adapter-pcie-x16-x8-x4--m-2-895841?query=m2+pcie&redirected=1
My question now is if it will work and if not what are the alternatives?

Looking at page 89-90 of the user manual:

I can't see anything specific about booting from PCI. I can't honestly recall if this method was around yet at that point...I know it wasn't on my radar.

In my own usage I have utilized these with some Dell office refurbs. I have found that almost every 3rd gen and up I dealt with would boot fine from it, 2nd gen were hit as miss at to whether it would work with a BIOS update, or have to hit F1 every time it booted.
