I have a Dell Inspiron 3670 I am trying to fresh install Win 10 on, but it's failing to recognize the ssd when it boots up after doing the initial Win 10 install. I've attached some screenshots (in the gallery link) Screenshot images of Dell Inspiron 3670 of the BIOS settings and below are the steps I've done and ensured. Any useful help would be appreciated! I am looking to have it boot from the SSD, not the m.2.

  1. I have ensured the BIOS is set to AHCI and UEFI, along with secure boot off
  2. The Windows 10 I'm installing, was set-up with RUFUS with UEFI and GPT partitioning
  3. I have tried unchecking all hard drives except for the SSD.
  4. I have tried to go to the boot menu (F12) and it doesn't show up in the list but it's showing up in the BIOS.

Found this article, and it explains a lot:

https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-ca/000132465/windows-10-install-with-nvme-ssd-and-sata-drives

In short, disable the SATA drives, install Win 10 to the NVMe, then once Windows is installed, re-enable the SATA drives.

It's a good idea to unplug all drives you don't want Windows installed on during a clean setup, prevents any issues with it trying to put system files on secondary drives or mistakes such as selecting the wrong drive for the setup and accidentally wiping a drive.

The only bad part, I can ONLY boot from the NVMe. I've tried changing the bcdedit to the ssd, but in BIOS, it's not reflecting, so I guess I'm stuck with only installing to an NVMe.
