Hi guys,

recently i bought the ssd and hdd but i was confused on placement of it. i bought samsung SSD 850 Pro 256 GB SATAIII and HDD WD 1TB. the question, is it true that i should put the ssd in SATAIII Port and HDD in SATAIII port as well? to get the full potential of the ssd. im using RAID 0. SSD for the Windows and HDD for the storage. currently my motherboard doesnt support SATAII MY motherboard is MSI Gaming 7. where should i put the HDD?
Please help me.

Thanks

Reasoning for the above:

RAID 0 runs at the speed of the slowest drive, and 2x the size of the smallest. So, if you were to get this to work, you'd have a 512GB 'drive', running at mostly the speed of the HDD.

In answer to your question - the SSD in a SATA III port, the HDD in any other port.

Im not putting SSD and HDD at raid 0. im putting ssd at raid 0 ofcourse. my only question is, where do i put the HDD in?is it SATAIII? cause i put SSD in SATAIII as well. will the ssd have the full potential?

Thanks

RAID 0 has nothing to do with a single drive. Are you perhaps thinking of RAID mode vs AHCI mode in the BIOS?

You can plug the HDD into a SATA III port. It will not affect the SSD in any way.

I love seeing post like this!! very informative.

Connec the SSD to a SATA III port and the HDD to a SATA III port if you have it, if not then connect the HDD to any SATA port left "2 or 3"

Thanks so i probably plug HDD and SSD in SATAIII port to get the full potential of the SSD(Raid 0). i hope combining it dont make any problem.

Thanks

Me too 😀

you are not doing RAID 0. you cannot do RAID with one single drive. Also, like he said before you cant combine SSD and HDD. forget about RAID 0, just connect the drives to their ports. "I'm assuming you only have the new SSD and HDD"
