Installing steam on an external hard drive

the ssd on my laptop is 600mb away from being full.

im going on a trip soon where i wont have any internet and is it possible for the steam client on the hard drive to stay connected?

If you plug the External drive into the laptop, you should be able to create a new steam folder on there so you can install more games.

The Steam client can stay on the C drive. That is tiny.

You can install the games on any drive you Wish, including an external.

Steam games location
In the steam client:
Steam
Settings
Downloads
Steam Library Folders
Add library folder

To move an already installed game
Games library
Right click the game
Properties
Local Files
Move Install Folder

And you really, really need to fix that. You're killing the lifespan of that SSD.
