So atm I am sitting on my windows 8.1 pro. I have downloaded the esb files of windows 10 build 10240 which is meant to be a final one and I really want to upgrade. Unfortunately, I am a bit confused. I have this little windows icon where I have reserved my free Windows 10 upgrade. I am wondering - if i will install the "final' version of Win 10 now, will I still get the link/serial key/anything etc on 29th july? And also, will I be able to activate Win 10 with MY Win 7/Win 8 key on that day? Please, respond.

Solution
Agreed, to get the activated version you need to go through the upgrade process on or after July 29, as the key for Windows 10 comes built in with your upgrade from 8.1.

I would also wait, I do have the final windows 10 preview version loaded on an older laptop, and I have noticed if you do a properties it shows as windows 10 Pro and does not identify as a preview build as it did in earlier releases. Can others confirm that is what they are observing also?
