I'm trying to install windows 7 onto a new ssd (samsung 970 evo) and it's being installed from a working computer with windows 10. I loaded the windows 7 cd into the drive, started the installation process, and got to the "expanding files" part before it put out an error stating that it can't install windows due to a missing driver.

It didn't have any details on what it was talking about and booted me out of the installation screen after hitting ok. Anyone know what drivers I'm missing?

Solution
You needed to provide the Samsung NVMe driver for the Windows 7 installer to work with your SSD. This is similar to the case where missing SATA drivers prevented installation of older versions of Windows on SATA drives.

Unfortunately, Samsung only provides the driver via an installer executable (link below). In your case, you will need to copy the specific driver files (.sys, .inf, .cat) to a USB flash drive. Please post a reply if you want instructions on how to do this.
