Quick question. I've installed Win98 w/ my Western Digital HD on ATA 100 and have had problems with the install. When I do 66 though it seems fine. Is it too fast copying the data or do I have something configured wrong. My board is an ASUS a7v BIOS setting are correct as well as 80-pin cable.

If it doesn't plug into the wall I don't want it!

The problem is that the win9x installer doesn't have drivers for an ATA/100 controller. The way to fix this is install win9x with the HDD connected to the ATA/66 controller, then install the ATA/100 driver that came with the drive, then connect the HDD to the ATA/100 controller (make sure to change the settings in the BIOS), should work fine. I had to do the same thing with my new IBM HDD.

Not sure about the A7V, but with the BX133 RAID, I connected the drive to the ATA100 socket, Installed Win98 and then installed the driver from the mobo CD-ROM on the device manager.

The difference being, the system ran the drive on DOS until I ran the drivers.
