HI.

I'm building a new PC and for my boot drive I have decided to use Samsung 950 pro M.2 drive.

The motherboard is an ASRock H170 board that supports booting form the M.2 if it is a NVMe drive, which the 950 pro is.

I have ordered a copy of W10 on DVD.

So. I decided to have a look at some installation guides for W10 on the 950 or M.2 NVMe drives in general. The few I saw all talked about using the USB version of W10 and I got the impression that it wasn't possible from the DVD.

So is it possible to install it to the M.2 using the DVD?

If not is there a good work around?

I talked to MS installation support but frankly they had no idea and never really touch on the main point I wanted answered which was the " is it possible to install it to the M.2 using the DVD?
" part. They just suggested I make a bootable CD using the ISO file! Pretty frustrating.

Anyway thanks for any help in advance!

P.S. Not all the components have arrived yet so this is advanced troubleshooting.

You should be able to install the media to the m.2 drive like a regular hard drive ... I have a m.2 drive its only a intel 120 but my install went fine just make sure its your boot drive in windows is either dvd if you use that or usb if you use that.

Thanks for the reply. Could you clarify this part a little bit please?

Do you make sure that the DVD or USB is the first boot drive in the BIOS when installing windows or are you talking about setting the M.2 to be the primary boot drive once W10 is installed?

Thanks. Thought that's what you meant but I though I should check!
