Hi. I'm going to be getting an SSD but I've read a lot and i'm very confused still on how to make everything work.

I don't have a Windows 10 disc, my laptop didn't come with one. What do I do to install it on the new drive?

Ideally I want to copy paste my HDD's stuff to the SSD, but if I can't easily thats okay.

A lot of articles say about "plugging in" the HDD and SSD. I don't understand this. Don't you just put the SSD into the machine?

Any simple tutorial would help. I have a new Dell Inspiron, easy to take apart and install SSD

So, you can either clone to your new SSD, or do a clean install of the OS (and applications) on the new SSD.

To clone, Macrium Reflect
All you need is a way to connect both drives, install that applications, and follow the directions.

To 'clean install', you create whatever DVD set, with the functionality the manufacturer gives you.
Connect the new SSD, boot from that, and install on the new drive. This also gives you the original load of crapware fromth e manufacturer.
If your DELL Inspiron supports 2 drives, install the SSD into the other slot, you can do this by taking out your DVD drive (If it has one) and putting the SSD or HDD there temporarily. Then copy all the stuff to the SSD.

OR.

You can order a special HDD copying kit off Amazon or someplace else, just search up on YouTube: How to move Windows and other files to a new HDD or SSD.

Hope this helps!
