Hello!I want to install windows 10.I heard I can delete every file from my computer while doing that. The question is if this option will delete my motherboard, cpu, gpu configurations?I will store my important files to an external hard drive.

Solution
Yes it will wipe all content on the drive if you delete the partitions when windows installation first starts by choosing the advanced option when picking the drive.

There is a guide here that describes how to do this,

Normally if you are upgrading to Windows 10. It is best to do a clean fresh install, instead of an in place upgrade.

In place upgrade, you can have an option to keep existing files during the upgrade. But that often causes problems and not highly recommended.

I would backup your system. (you can use a free program like Veeam Agent for Windows) and back it up to the external drive. Then perform a fresh Windows 10 install.

Don't worry about mobo, cpu, gpu, config files. Thats what drivers are for. Once you install windows 10, it will go online and get the necessary drivers. After that you can get the latest gpu drivers from Amd/Nvidia's site if the one that windows install isn't the latest one.

That's not always true, especially with windows 10 since it is still newer and adapting manufacture drivers into windows updates still.

I would perform windows updates fully and very installed driver versions against what is on the manufactures website. Often enough, there are newer drivers out or ones windows updates simple doesn't have.
