If someone could tell me the best way to go about this, that would be great. I've done about everything I've seen online, with editing the install.wim and boot.wim, and I still get the same popup after I click on the button to install windows. I've done basically everything like I said, so I'm kinda at a standstill on what I should do to get this working. I was going to use Windows 10, but I just generally prefer to use Windows 7 over anything else. Thank you!

Two things. First if you have a desktop, you can get a PCIe card to add USB2 ports. Or you could take the Windows 7 install disc and slipstream it to include the USB3 updates.

The other thing is that you can always install the free Classic Shell with Windows 10 and make it look and feel like Windows 7, Vista, or XP. That would seem to be your best bet and wouldn't cost you a nickel. Windows 10 takes a week or two to get used to, but it's not that much of a hassle even without Classic Shell.

Good luck.

Install Windows to run from the USB?
Or install from the USB?

Install from the USB. My bad.

Assuming you have the Win 7 ISO file:
Rufus
or
Windows USB/DVD Download Tool
to create your USB install media.

OP's problem si that he wants to install using a USB 3.0 port, which is a big problem with Win 7 as it lacks support.

I already have made the device into a bootable usb device, the issue is I want to install windows 7 using this device, but Windows 7 has issues supporting usb 3.0 therefore I need some type of workaround to do this, yet nothing works..

Stop being a luddite. Any savvy PC user will confirm that Windows 10 is excellent and far better than 7, which is, after all, a 7 years old OS.

And if you are worried about the telemetry stuff, you should know that it has also been implemented in both 7 and 8, but it can be disabled on any system by using Spybot Anty-Beacon.

EDIT: Btw, fun fact: unless you take special measures, getting a fresh Win 7 SP1 install up to date takes about a day or two 😉

I don't care if a savvy pc user would say that Windows 10 is better than Windows 7. I prefer the way Windows 7 looks and feels. I run Windows 7 on all of my devices including my laptop, and my secondary computer.

I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck!

1. This thread is almost 3 years old. I sincerely hope the OP is still not trying to fix this.

2. Language and personal attacks. Leave them at the door.
