Installing Windows 7 - stuck on installing updates? Or just taking a long time?

Hey guys,

I'm starting to move back over to Windows after years on macs. But I haven't installed Windows in years on a PC. Is it normal for it to take hours on the installing updates part or should I reboot?

Thanks,
Kevin

On a clean installation there can be hundreds of updates. The algorithm that determines which ones are needed/not needed and the order in which they need to be installed is very inefficient and can take many hours to do its work. Bottom line is to simply leave it be. The process takes as long as it needs to take.

After a successful install, and then the updates?
Taking hours (or until tomorrow) is not unusual at all.
