I have an old windows XP computer that am trying to upgrade to windows 7 but when I load the installation disk and set up language and drive partitions the installer copies files to the hard drive but it crashes at "expanding windows files" with the error code 0x0000007B and cannot continue the computer was made in 2003.

Computer Specs (Installing Win7 to)
2x 80GB IDE Western Digital Hard Drives (Connected to Motherboard Directly)

2x 160GB SATA Seagate Hard Drives
1x 20GB IDE Western Digital Hard Drive
(Connected to the Motherboard via a Promise Fastrak s150 tx2 sata/ide RAID Controller)

2x 1GB DDR2 RAM
Intel Celeron 2.4GHz Processor

2x DVD-RW/CD-RW Reader/Burner.

Solution
Do a drive scan on whatever drive you are installing it on. You can install 7 on an 80 gig drive, but not if there are bad sectors on the thing. You are installing it on the drives connected to the motherboard right? Or trying to install on the ones connected to the RAID card?

The above drive controller setting will only be there if those are SATA drives, which they are not.
