Installing Windows 8.1 AFTER Windows XP (64bit) (Dual-boot possible?)

Greetings.
I am not sure if this belongs into Win XP or rather to Win 8 section, if I missed, my apologies.

I am trying to find a guide or an answer if such installation is possible at all and if yes how, but all I find is just installing Win XP after Win 8. Which is not what I need, but exact opposite.

So could someone please tell me if I can install Windows 8.1 on a machine which runs Windows XP 64-bit without removing the current Win XP installation.

My PC HW supports installation of Win 8 (meets the requirements NX, PAE, SSE2)

Yes, you can. Just shrink Windows XP's primary partition, create a new partition in that blank space, format that NTFS, title it Windows 8.1 to prevent destruction of Windows XP, reboot and install to that partition.

Just came back to say yes it works, well, in case the PC parts are supported by the latest windows...
and unfortunately this means it is not working for my PC because as I found my CPU is no longer supported with W8.1-64bit (the 32-bit ver. works)

Oh and btw. Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant will NOT work on Windows XP,
instead you will need to get an Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant which should work with Win XP,
although I CANNOT confirm that, since it did not worked for me (running Windows XP PRO SP2 64-bit
I got an Error msg: This platform is not supported.

If already one company refuses to support their own stuff...
