I bought a new computer with Windows 8.1 and realized after the fact that I needed 8.1 Pro, so I purchased the DVD for the Pro version. I then realized (duh) that the computer has no optical drive. I am definitely no computer whiz and would just like to know the best/easiest way to get Windows 8.1 Pro from the DVD onto my new computer. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Solution
Get yourself an 8GB (minimum) USB.
Download this ISO of an untouched Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit from here:
http://85.25.103.173/Getintopc.com/en_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x64_dvd_2971948.iso

If you need 32 Bit: http://188.138.9.251/Getintopc.com/en_windows_8_1_pro_vl_x86_dvd_2972633.iso
Used them both before so I can confirm they're untouched.

Then get Rufus. This will create you a bootable USB of Windows 8.1.
https://rufus.akeo.ie/downloads/rufus-2.1.exe

Once created, put the USB as the first in your boot order and viola, you can install it with the code inside that 8.1 Pro DVD you bought.
Hope I helped :)

Why, specifically, do you need Win 8.1 Pro?

But if you really do, you'll need another PC, with a DVD drive.
You can use this to create a USB install media: Windows USB/DVD Download Tool
