I'm reinstalling windows after switching to intel and getting a new mobo, so I'm wondering how I go about installing windows on a new partition? my current windows install is the only partition on the drive aside from system reserved things. i have my usb bootable to install windows, could i just boot from that and choose to install on a new partition? would my old partition still keeps its files and folders so I can transfer them to the new fresh partition with windows? and then could I delete the old partition once I'm done transferring what i need? will I still be able to access that older partition considering it was made with my old cpu and motherboard? the new installation will be with the new mobo and cpu so im just making sure id be able to access those files from the new installation.

That would be a weird OS to HD distribution... there are better options. If you plan to delete the OS partition, you could instead do a Upgrade install over the present OS and not have to delete the OS and later reinstall programs. You can create a new partition from the Disk Manager. Start by Shrinking the volume, and create a new partition in the unallocated disk space, next backup your files on the new partition, next reboot and from the bootable USB installer, select the Upgrade option, or start it from the Windows GUI.

Or you can format the OS partition to do a clean installation on it. You can create the new partition, backup files, then start the installation and from the Windows installer type of installation select...

Recover the Product Key code with Keyfinder... you may need it to Activate the new installation.
