Installing Windows XP from USB

I need to reinstall Windows XP on lenovo 3000 C100 (an old laptop), but I don't have my Windows XP CD in me. I already have a USB flash drive with Windows in it. The BIOS, however doesn't have an option to boot from USB. I consider running setup.exe from Windows and hopefully the newly-installed boot loader will probe USB devices too and eventually load data from the pen drive. The laptop is not mine and I cannot afford leaving it unbootable.

If the laptop won't boot from a USB, you are SOL without a CD.

The universe boot cd 4 windows project has a program to build a USB version of the project including a boot cd which can start up the project on a USB memory device

I think tool used was ubusb.exe.
I will look it up later when I get home

I believe last version of project was 3.60

XP based pe are not a good idea for modern hardware especially those with win 8 and uefi motherboards due to lack of drivers for modern motherboard chipsets

But for older hardware of XP or vista vintage or similar are still useful
The BartPE on which ubcd4win project is based is still found in other projects such as Hirens boot cd
