would it be possible to use a direct tv coax connector from the wall and split it with a xfinity modem that also uses a coax line we had comcast service our house 7 yrs ago and they keep saying the wiring and connection is all good but all i am finding is a coax cable they drilled to run through the wall thats not connected to anything at all

No and here is why: The dish[does not matter which one] system is not designed to prevent entrance of foreign signals in the spectrum they do not use, most notably the return spectrum for cable internet 5-42Mhz. It will allow random RF noise in the world right into the system, [every single elctronic device in the world makes random rf noise] not to mention some of the services will ride up the line into the cable plant and get you terminated to prevent interference to the rest of the neighborhood.

Its not designed to run 2 services over one line, run separate lines or take the line OFF Directtv and put it on Comcast only.

the wiring was done by comcast in a specific room a few years ago i remember a modem being installed but like i said i only find one end of a coax coming out of a wall plate not the coax connector itself

If your current coax hook is/was used for satellite TV (DVB-S/S2) there is not any point to hook up you DOCSIS cable modem to it as it leads to a satellite dish instead of terrestrial cable provider. Cable impedance is most likely 75Ohm and can be re-used but you need a tech to hook it up on their side first.
