I have a HP laptop with windows 8 which I foolishly updated to Windows 8.1. My webcam icom disappeared from my desktop. When I go to Windows start-up and click on camera I can take a picture or video but there is no way to save it or send it to someone else or upload it to a file. The picture is still there when I go back and I can view it or others Ive taken but only .there

Being an HP laptop, I would imagine it came through with Cyberlink YouCam. If the icon disappeared, the program is likely still installed. Try hitting the Windows key and then typing 'youcam' (without the quotes). If it doesn't show up, then you should be able to go to HP's support page (http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers), enter your laptop's model #, and then go to drivers. The Cyberlink software suite should be an available download which will restore the webcam software for you.

Hope this helps!
