So I am servicing two laptops with Identical screens (different brands though, one HP and a Toshiba) One of the screens was broken and the owner tried to swap screens before bringing the laptops to me. Both of the screens have good backlights (verified bu plugging both into the Toshiba), but when plugged into one of the laptops (the HP), both screens will display, but the backlight won't turn on and they are only visible by using a flashlight. Any ideas as to what is going on and/or how to fix?

hp g6 http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/HP-Compaq/PAVILION~G6/
look carefully at the hp video cable for any wear marks especially around the hinge area. try reseating the video cable.
if you have the hp screen and toshibia screen google both service parts to see if there the same screens and near the same rev. a lot of vendors sometime tweek stock parts so that you have to buy there parts. also look at the service part number of the backlight power board. some are universial some are not.

The the broken screen ( the HP's) backlights work when plugged into the Toshiba, but not when plugged into the HP (the one it came out of)
