Intake vs. Outtake: Case Fans

I'm new here and am wondering how to setup case fans in my build. I know you just screw them in, but then there's the whole intake vs. outtake. I know I want to put 2 outtake on the top, and 2 intake in the back, but how? Do I just switch the direction of the fan? And how do I know which way air will blow, does it always blow the direction of the fan hub?

Look carefully, there is usually a small molded arrow showing the fan direction.
I add a more visible mark of my own.
Look at the shape of the fan blades, and you can usually tell.

My basic thought is to concentrate on intakes behind washable filters if possible.
That gives you positive pressure airflow and keeps your case cleaner.
Generally, two 120 or 140mm front intakes is sufficient for a single gpu and a tower type cpu air cooler.
Natural airflow is intake in front or bottom, exhaust at rear or top.
Do not put in too much exhaust; perhaps just one 120mm to direct the airflow.
If you put in too much exhaust, you will draw in air from unfiltered openings.

Currently I have a phanteks enthoo luxe, if I order 4 fans where should I put them? Or should I order only 2?

They come with 3 pin connectors to the mobo, correct? If so, how is that gonna work? Do I connect directly into the motherboard?
