Intalling Optical drive to a case that doesn't have a slot for it just for OS.

So I bought a NZXT S340 mid tower case that doesn't have an optical drive slot, but I do have an Optical drive as well as a Windows 8.1 install disk. Is there a way to connect the OD to my pc just to install OS? Even if it's not fastened in the case.

I guess you could just hook it up with the case open (just make sure once you've wired it up, it's standing flush somewhere so it doesn't mess with the read of the dic), install your OS and then power down and remove it.

I figured it should be possible, thanks for the fast response. Ill give it a shot when the rest of my parts come in the mail.
