I am repairing a Compaq Presario CQ5210Y Desktop PC that was given to me. The problem is, the previous user, had a monitor that was dying. So they thought wiggling the VGA wire would help it. Unfortunately, what they did was break the connection between the MOBO and the VGA adapter. Needles to say, the VGA output is no longer functioning or attached.

My solution is. I have an nvidia enno3d 2gb graphics card that IS compatible with this PC. My HDMI wire is hooked up properly (graphics card is from a personal home PC that is working) but my problem is I CANT SEE ANYTHING and MOBO will not auto detect the graphics card. So how can i access my BIOS, BLINDLY so I can switch the video settings to pci or pci-e so i can use the graphics card in place of the VGA port?

I'm not sure how much this will help, but in the computer's online support section they list the steps for adding a video card, including a description of how to switch over from the onboard graphics. Scroll past the video to the "Preparing the computer" section.

Here they list the keys necessary to enter the BIOS, activate and save settings, and they provide a screenshot of the relevant BIOS screen, though I can't say for sure whether that BIOS screen looks identical in every model in this series. It might be worth a try though. At worst, you're just likely to mess up other BIOS settings while poking around in the dark. : P

I have pulled all remaining pins out from old broken VGA output adapter. I moved the jumper to the 1-2 pins, i switched them back before re booting, graphics card is in x16 pci-e slot and seated correctly hdmi wire is hooked up... but again, no picture on monitor . computer turns on just fine, sounds smooth but no picture on the screen. the only way i think to do this is to do it blind. but i would need an exact replica photo of what the bios menu looks like....
