Integrated Graphics Computer connected to a Television

I was wondering if an older computer without a video card can reasonably support a wide screen 25 inch television? Would I get better performance with a regular monitor?

Some not so old integrated graphics can run a tv. Monitors run better than tv's though.

Thank you for answering. One of the problems that I'm having is that my CPU and fan frequently run at or near 100% on way too many occasions. Or at least it's too frequent for me. I'm using Firefox and even when I disable my extensions I still get the same behavior. Is there something associated with using a TV that adds a strain to the integrated graphics? Does it add more to the job that is hard to handle or is it just the same as a monitor?

You haven't told me enough about your tv or pc.

I thought that I would add that I have a Dell Optiplex 320 that uses an ATI Radeon Express 1100 integrated graphics system. It's a Windows XP Pro. Yes, I know that's old. lol

Just try it. If it doesn't work then you can guess that it doesn't have enough grunt.

The new A series amd apu's would be a lot better. Or better still - a discrete graphics card.

It's waste of time trying to improve most Dell pc's though. They use non-standard bits. So anything new won't join up with them.

I really can't get a graphics card now. My TV is a Samsung 22 inch. I didn't know the actual size until I looked it up. I've been using it hooked up to the Dell for about 6 months. It works alright, but not perfect. I bought it used from someone who put a different processor in it. It now has a 3.6 gz intel chip. I get a message when I start that the processor is not supported by the system. That could be one reason the cpu runs too fast at times.

I frequently have my flash and java-script turned off so that my computer is more quiet. I even have that program called ClockGen to underclock the processor to try to quiet it down.

Sounds like you're lucky that anything runs at all.
