Integrated HD 4000 graphics not playing steam games

I have tried playing games like Half life 2 and garry's mod and they haven't worked, but when I played GTA Sand Andreas, the game works fine. I have the newest driver for the graphics. What do you guys think is wrong?

Your PC probably doesn't meet the mimimum requirements. And if you can tell me your PC specs that would be great I could help.

Playing steam games with an integrated chip isn't a very good idea. You should buy a graphics card

I doubt that it doesn't meet the requirements, it can run half life 1 without freezing. I am planning on getting card in a few months, but the integrated graphics should be able to run the game.
Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
I have an i5-3570k OC'd to 4.2, 8gb of 1600 ram, way about the recommended.

I don't think the intel 4000 has Direct X 9 in it. And you don't have VRAM cuz you don't have a graphics cad

The Intel HD 4000 is compliant with up to DirectX 11.

Additionally, if the Intel HD 4000 did not have DX9, then it would not be able to run Win 7 and Win 8 which requires a DX9 compatible card.
