Hi all, I'm looking to get a laptop with one of these two processors. I'm trying to see which one is faster and came across a site that compares them. Am I reading this correctly, is the Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 faster than the Intel® Core™ i7-10510U even though the former is up to 3.9ghz and the latter is 4.9ghz? Keep in mind I'm not going to use this laptop for games.

Thanks
A bit better site.

ok thanks for your input. but what about the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U? I can also get that cpu with the laptop. it seems the CPU blows the other two out of the water, would you agree? the only thing i'm worried about is if this AMD cpu needs more cooling. I don't want to get it if the laptop will not cool it enough and the cpu will throttle and become slower than the i7.

How well threaded are your apps?
If they are largely single threaded, then the single thread performance of all three is not too different.

On cooling, that will be an issue with any laptop.
Laptop coolers will, of necessity, be inefficient.
They need to be small and light.
Look at the laptop candidates with an eye to the ones with the best coolers.
When fully loaded, laptops are prone to throttling.
This is particularly common in gaming laptops with discrete graphics chips.

my son will be using this laptop for school (grade 11 and 12) and I will be using it for email, web browsing and maybe some photo editing, youtube, etc. all these cpus are options in the Dell Inspiron 15 laptop.

Can you provide a link to the specs of each?
My first requirement for such a laptop would be the inclusion of a ssd.
My thought is that your requirements are not very cpu heavy.
For school, the weight might be an issue.
Does the school have any requirements or suggestions as to specs?

of course it has an SSD, what kind of a person do you think I am? :) no my requirements are not CPU heavy right now, but who knows next year. I never buy something that I only need now. I always try to buy something that will last as long as possible. Weight is not an issue, my son is 15 and so the workout would be good for him. the only thing he does now is he works out his fingers on the keyboard while playing games. Here are the two models i'm deciding between:
