I still got my ancient Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9450 (from 2009) with 8gb RAM and Nvidia GTA 560 TI Graphics card and it runs GTA V online with NO problems. I am SO impressed with that processor. The best investment I ever made in hardware. I should have bought the Q9650 which was a tiny bit faster though 🙂

Anyone else who has been lucky buying hardware in the 'good old days'?

I am still running an ASUS P6T MB from 2009 with a 6 core i7-980 and it runs all my games at 1080p 60 fps on ultra with a GTX 1080.

At work I am running PCs from the early 1990s. I have been personally taking care of them since 1998. They are running as we speak. Dos 5.0 and Labwindows.

I bought this CPU from ebay like few days ago and all the games work just great, its paired with GTX 750 and 8gb of ram.I run GTA V, Rainbow Six Siege, CSGO, Call of duty everything is just working great.I had some troubles installing windows due to outdated bios, but everyhing is fixed now. Great CPU!

I ran an I7-960 up until about a year ago when the motherboard started having hard drive controller issues. I had thrown a 970 nvidia in it and a Intel SSD and that was about it. Comparing it with my thread ripper that I replaced it with the 960 was still a pretty solid performer. It just goes to show that CPU's aren't nearly the bottleneck that they used to be.

A few memorable ones.
P200@ 252
P3 450@ 600
P3 550E @869
P3 1.26 @1587
P4 days were bad.
Athlon 240 @3.5ghz
Phenom2 960t unlocked to 6 cores@3.6ghz
Just gut a Ryzen 3600 and so far have all core burst to 4.4. Need better cooler for more performance.
The tinkering continues.

I've been using an HP D5000T with Core 2 Quad Q9550 and GeForce 9800GT video card to support legacy products which can only be programmed with a Win 7 32-bit platform. Usage has been light but it's been in regular use since circa 2008.

It is now dying...actually I think it's the video card - in any case no point in putting any money in repairs....
