The only thing I'd be hesitant on is the board. It's geared towards an i5 due to its 8 phase power design.

I know it doesn't need to be a 850 (650W will do) but for some reason the price is the same for an 850 so that's the reason I chose it.

I have a similar concern but I think it should be able to handle the i7, its just I have heard bad things about Gigabyte boards.

No just have the normal i7 12700

I am currently in a software engineering course where we are using programming related tools. That and gaming is my two main needs for the PC.
