Hello,

I was wondering if someone could share their opinion about the newer Intel Pentium 64 series as suppose to the earlier 54 series... Has the newer 64 series improved much concerning heat issues etc... What has changed, very curious ..

thank you
Ralph

6xx series is a little cooler. They have EMT64 or whatever they're calling it this week. I think that's about it.

When Intel decided to follow Amd's lead, they used old paper that is missing 2 functions. The intel chips will start including them in November. Unfortunately, even with those functions, Intel's architecture will not be as good as the Amd chips when using 64 bit progs. Not to worry though, most software will be better optimized for the Intel chips.

Dont forget about the extra 17% latency...Cach wasnt the only thing intel added to the 600 series
