Question intel 660p M.2 NVMe slow write speeds

I'm running my Intel 660p in an external enclosure on my Mac and I'm getting terrible write speeds. When I run a speed test on it, it shows 900MB/s at first but then after the 2nd or 3rd test it drops to around 80MB/s but the read speed stays the same. After testing it I tried to transfer 200 GB to the drive. It took around 1 or 2 minutes to transfer the first 90GB to the drive but it took another 15 minutes to transfer the rest of the 110 GB. Has anyone else had this problem?

Try using the SSD WITHOUT the enclosure and see if a similar symptoms still happens. It sounds like the mem cache is full or bottle neck somewhere and waiting for the queue to executes finish. If the symptoms still happens without the enclosure, try it on another computer, if it still happens, RMA your ssd, might be a bad chip.

You can't really exceed the speed of the slowest device in the chain. Whats the source drive ? I reckon it's a harddrive and that explains the 80MB/s

The source drive is an ssd and when I test it, it clocks about 2000MB/s so I know thats not the problem.

You have a 2nd NVME SSD?
Otherwise you're just seeing Mac's caching ability
