Hi...I am planning on building my First Computer...but I have really been debating which Motherboard to purchase, between INTEL 975XBX or ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe......Ive read the reviews & research and i know that the ASUS P5W-DH is a great motherboard for Overclocking & is very soild as the 975XBX etc...tho, im not really an overclocker, i guess the thought of knowing i can do it if i wanted to, is a plus....

I know the 975XBX came out in the beginning of the Year, so does that make the board much more outdated by now?

I just dont want to spend the same amount of money on a board that either sucks or wont Last me at least a few years....

Do you reccommend the INTEL 975XBX?...Any type of feedback will be greatly appreciated.....

I have the D975XBX and the Conroe X6800. Install was easy. MB seems to work great (had it less than a week now). Got the 304 bias so it was Conroe ready right out of the box. Haven't OC'd yet so don't have real world there. Will say that I would wait on the New ASUS Conroe boards if you were going Conroe. In less than two months, they should have a whole new line up of Conroe boards ready to go. Hope this helps.

If you do go Intel - 2 minor install issues I saw with the XBX:
1. The system utility that comes with the MB is not ready for Conroe. It works great except of the CPU voltage. it gives warnings for low voltage (less than the 2.05v it is looking for). Conroe runs at 1.15v. Intel...

2. The documentaion is a bit confusing where the 2x4 power connection comes in. it shows a big red X on the document but doesn't really explain. Bottom line, if you use Conroe of Prescott Extreme, you must use a real 2x4 connection from the PS, not the adaptor that converts a 2x2 into a 2x4.

My rig:
Conroe X6800 (stock clock for now)
Intel D975XBXLRK
Thermaltake Big Typhoon HSF
2GB Corsair Pro PC6400 4-4-4-12
ATI X1900XTX
74GB 10K Raptor HD
SB Audigy 2 SZ
Ultra X-Finity 600W
