Intel/AMD Chipset Compilation

I'm a student at a career center and I'm taking a computer repair class, and whenever someone comes across a system that they're trying to repair, I always end up having to look up the motherboard to find the chipset, and then the chipset to find what type of RAM it might take. Therefore, I'm wanting to make a list of the common chipsets we might run across during repairs as a quick reference guide. I'll include the latest chipsets for both Intel and AMD (Socket 1150 and forward, Socket AM3 and forward), but I would like to know if there are common chipsets that are older than 3rd generation Core series that I should include.
