intel+AMD or AMD+AMD? light casual Steam gaming build thoughts

i already have an intel+nvidia machine that's my office/games machine, but it's at the office. i'm thinking of doing another for home, but for variety i'd like to use an AMD graphics card.

given that i'm a light/casual gamer, i'm going to keep it to low/mid-range parts. all games are Steam, played at 1080p (TV), and i don't need all settings on ultramaxinsanetruelife3dyoucansmellit.

intel = i3-4360 maybe? or even G3258 and OC it? (for info, office/game machine is i3-4130 + GTX760)
AMD = A8-7600 maybe? FX-6300?

which is a better / more interesting platform? i'd buy and keep the CPU, no upgrades after N months. no idea which specific GPU i'd pair it with, but no wilder than r9 280x based on prices (the $180 Canadian to $250 Canadian price range)

Ironically all AMD builds are known to suffer issues and perform worse than Intel and AMD builds - even with completely performance matched CPUS. Go with Intel, and whichever graphics you choose. You'll get far better performance.

will the G3258 (with or without OCing) be able to play Steam games? i've read that the lack of 4 cores or hyperthreading prevents some games from even working in the first place. is that only for standalone stuff, or Steam-based stuff as well?
