Intel has announced it is selling the majority of its smartphone modem business to Apple for $1 billion. The deal includes 2,200 employees that will join Apple.

I thought Intel was supposed to be the primary supplier of 5g modems to apple. The only reason that didn't happen is because the couldn't deliver 10nm nodes to make this possible.

So is Apple going to use Samsung foundaries and make Intel based 5g chips? The power delivery with the cobalt layers will have to be rearranged. But other than that it should be almost ready to go.
