Always so close but they never seem to reach the finish line and technically, these delayed GPUs, again, will be already outdated by the 2H of this year.¯\( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

"Arc desktop cards (A3 series) will first occur in China starting in Q2, with a later in the year launch for A5 and A7 series cards. This makes sense for a launch troubled by materials and component shortages..."

No it doesn't. Producing the highest margin product makes the most sense during shortages.

Highest margin? Between readily available competition getting cheaper every week, more ARC delays and missed deadlines getting announced every few weeks, next-gen launches getting closer, more reports of teething issues, etc. Intel will likely end up having to sell ARC GPUs at a loss just to overcome the bad PR by the time dGPUs launch.

At this point, I'm suspecting Intel is having another Puma 5/6 moment where it is attempting to find software solutions to hardware flaws.

Yeah - this looks more like a product with too many teething pains that Intel want to keep low profile. This way, if initial reception of the low cost parts are a catastrophe, they can simply cancel or delay the higher SKUs - it's always less costly than selling them then having to recall them all. Ask AMD how they felt about the RX 5700 - that card was decried for black screens (that were ultimately fixed and the card ended up being one of the best bang for buck before crisis) and they felt it deeply, or the price Nvidia had to pay for the failing GT 8600 Mobile. If Intel went ahead full steam with a product line that's a complete failure, it'd take another 25 years for them to try again.
Dang, the Intel i740 was out that long ago ?!
