Intel Auburndale chip compatibility

Do you think a 45nm Intel Auburndale i7 Dual Core would work in a laptop compatible with 32nm Arrandale CPUs?

Both are 35W PGA988. The i7 in question was cancelled or something. Thanks.

Besides the socket compatibility, you'd need BIOS, chipset feature and voltage regulation compatibility.
My guess would be not compatible.

That's an argument in favor of it being compatible.
You'd have to be able to confirm the motherboard would support it.

It is verified to work with PM55/GM55. If I can get the i7 chip cheap I will install it and see what happens (thinkin less than $30). If not, I will grab a first gen i3/i5.
