hi!
im going to build a pc with probably the next components:
cpu: intel i5 4460 or intel i5 4690k
graphics: msi nvidia geforce gtx 960 2048 mb twin frozr v cooling
ram:idk yet

and im wondering what motherboard is better since both have pretty much the same price:
the asus m/b intel b85 pro gamer or asus m/b intel z97-k ???
take in cosideration that this pc is intended for mostly gaming and i expect it to for example run the witcher 3 smothly but its not meant to be a hardcore quad-screen 4k resolution 120 fps kinda pc.

Hello ! Motherboard depends on you processor. if you are interested in K series ( overclocking) z97 boards are useful else you can use b85. 960 will suffice if you can invest more then look into amd 370-380 cards even 280-285-280x cards

if you are not in overclocking stick to 4590 non k version. also have a look at 5th gen CPU if they are available and within your budget.

Even if not OCing the CPU (if you go 4690K) can always OC down the road - it's like having a free CPU upgrade waiting for you) if you go the 4460 they can often handle 1866 DRAM which the Z97 can handle also - so pretty much either way I'd go the Z97 (plus can upgrade CPU down the road also
