Intel Bios and processors

Forgive me - It's been a little while since I got to build a system, and I'm trying to match up a motherboard with a processor. I am very interested in the Intel D975XBX2. Does anyone know if the Intel Bios update of August 6 updated the system bus speed to 1333? I can't find specifics on the Intel site. If it did, would this mean that it would support the Core 2 Duo E6850? Or does it matter.

i have same board and same problem and Intel is not supporting it officaly but instill someoen says it works and trys it we will never know

as of Aug 26th its not supported

Only Daul and quads with 1066FSB

I've heard horror stories about this mobo not supporting 1333, stay away from Intel brand boards. Get the P35 in Asus or Gigabyte flavor.

It's not the Intel boards fault that the 975x chipset was never meant to go over 1066 FSB. Some will and some wont, thats why they dont support it. Asus put out a bios to support 1333 on the P5W DH....guess what 1333 just keeps on freezing. Why? not all 975x chipsets will do it. Better that Intel just say no then give the option and make the boards unstable.

If you have a D975XBX2 then you have nothing to loose(if the board is unstable it will not hurt the cpu...just crash[not kill....just bsod]/freeze windows[like any unstable overclock] the cpu will still work in your next board) by trying it....but don't buy one for this reason.

My recommendation any P35(gigabyte p35 ds3r works well for the price) based board because those ARE MADE for 1333. This way there is no guessing....

Any freeze up on the Asus P5B -D P965 chipsets?

it works like a charm on an asus p5b deluxe. as there are few bios updates which enhances the performance of 1333fsb, like more compatibility with rams and stuff. thus it works like a charm. hope i helped.

as said above P965's tend to go farther then 975x's you should be good to go....

And even many 975x will make it...i was just plain unlucky...
