Intel Chipset Drivers Don't Update

I've had this issue before on previous machine but curious why. Right now I have an Asus Prime Z270-A motherboard. The installed Intel chipset drivers (per device manager) are version 10.1.1.40. Asus just posted a new chipset driver installer on their website labeled 10.1.1.44. I ran the setup and get the "successfully installed" message to end the program. When I look at device manager, none of the 200-series chipset driver versions have changed...they all still say 10.1.1.40. Am I doing something wrong or how do I get the .44 version to overwrite the .40 version?

Hve you turned off Windows ability to install drivers ... had issues with machines brought in where WU installed drivers and numbers don't match the hardware vendor's

Can always uninstall the .40, reboot and then install.

Yep...the options shown in your links are for older Windows 10 versions. Those options don't exist anymore. I ended up just manually replacing the .40 chipset drivers with the .44 versions. It looks like the reason they didn't automatically replace is that Intel doesn't always use proper "dates" in their numbering. Windows was seeing that the date of the .40 chipset drivers was newer than the .44 and so thought they were newer. I had to research this...because the .44 has a 1968 date to it which didn't seem right. It appears that this is intentional and speculated to prevent Windows from overwriting them with Microsoft drivers...not sure why or how. The .44 is confirmed as newer though and I was able to update finally.

Run CMD admin prompt and enter c:\your folder where you have the Asus file, enter "setupchipset.exe -overall" but without the quotes.
