Intel core 2 duo e6750 question

Hey. I'm currently using intel core 2 duo e6750 and I wanted to upgrade my video card - currently using ATI radeon x1800 series. My pc is pretty old but I wanted to know if I can buy a new video card for gaming , not too hardcore, maybe playing on med setts no problem. My question is more if there is any good video card with compatibility with my processor.

With that cpu, I would not use higher than a 7770 otherwise your cpu would become a serious bottleneck.. ( it will still bottleneck this card but anything higher imo would be a waste )

Thanks for the reply. I see, but could you be more specific? cuz i dont understand too much about hardware and stuff, just the basics. so 7770 its from what manufacturer? The reason why i'm into upgrade my video card its because when I play games my graphics get that strange vertical/horizontal lines in the enviroment of the game. I guess its because my video card is dying, everything else seems to work very well, i dont get high temperatures on my cpu aswell. I downloaded the diagnostic tool from intel's website to see the performance of my processor and it passed the test also.

No problem the 7770 is a graphic s card made by amd. Something just occurred to me though. what power supply is in your current system? I need brand, Watts and model. I ask because I want to make sure your system can power the card.

I've opened up my pc to check what u r asking for and as far as I can tell its something like BQT (Be Quiet) E5-650W. is it what u r asking for?

Yes that is what I was talking about. Thank you. While I don't like the brand ( not well known in the US ) it appears to be decent and capable of running the AMD 7770.

Thank you for your time helping me. I've been doing some research in other forums and the answer seems to be the 7770 aswell. Just got one more question. In order to install the graphic card, will I need a cd-rom driver or could I do it another way? Its because I'm in a bad luck and now I think my cd/dvd rom is somewhat broken, it doesnt open anymore :/. But if its really needed I dont have a choice and I have to buy a new one i guess.

That is great! I wasn't really in a mood to buy a new cd rom right now, eventually I will but not now. Saving money( portugal's crisis) eheh. Thank you a lot!
