Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz What does it compare to?

What amd processor compares to the i3-6100? Can this cpu run arma or should I get a faster cpu? I feel like this is a great cpu because I can upgrade to other skylake cpus in the furture. I currently have a r9 270x. Lastly, does this cpu beat an amd 8350? Does this bottleneck my gpu? I have a $300 budget for a cpu, ram, mobo, and case. I hope you can answer some of these questions and thanks in advance!

No the 6100 is a better CPU! Passmark scores are more about synthetics instead of real life performance.

the AND FX-8350 would be faster, but not by much. It is a little hard trying to find benchmarks for a i3-6300.

What is the purpose of the PC? Are you doing video encoding or other heavy file manipulation work? Just gaming? Comparing i3s and the FX-8350 is getting into cases where the answer for which is better is highly dependent on what you're doing with it.

Personally, I'd stick with the Skylake processor. You have a more straightforward upgrade path, and gaming performance is still better than a stock 8350. The effort involved in making the 8350 superior is going to cost the value of it and leave you with a dead-end motherboard you can't upgrade from.
